Shake Rag Alley School of Arts and Crafts shares that it is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Managing Director, Courtney Henson. The School, located in Mineral Point, offers a wide variety of classes in the creative arts for adults and young people. Alley Stage outdoor theater productions and historic lodging are also elements of the School’s offerings.
Courtney holds a BFA in Painting from the University of Oklahoma and an MFA in Textiles from Southern Illinois University. Since relocating to Madison, she has been working at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. Prior to that, she was the Visitor Services Manager for the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts in St. Louis. Don Hay, President of the Shake Rag Alley Board of Directors, says, “Courtney brings a unique blend of art and administrative experience to our Managing Director role. We are delighted with the skills she will bring to our energetic and creative team.”
Shake Rag Alley was founded as a non-profit eight years ago, by a group of visionary citizens who saw the potential in the unique cluster of historic structures that were on the market. The picturesque buildings and grounds are as much a part of today’s Shake Rag Alley experience as the more than 200 workshops, special events and theater offerings. It attracts participants and instructors from throughout the country to Southwest Wisconsin and confirms that this is a creative, artist-friendly area. For more information or to be put on the mailing list for workshops and events, go to shakeragalley.com or call (608) 987-3292.
