Mineral Point—Mark Croft appears for the first time at Alley Stage at Shake Rag Alley in a July 20 fundraiser for the Shake Rag Alley Quonset Hut Renovation.
Croft, a popular singer-songwriter from Madison who has been featured on many local programs including “Simply Folk” and “The Urban Theater,” will be joined by members of the Mark Croft Band for an acoustic performance at Alley Stage. This performance will also be recorded and a “Live at Alley Stage” CD will be released in the fall.
The concert will follow a silent auction and cocktail hour on the green at Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts. The silent auction will feature the work of regional artists whose work represents the style and variety at Shake Rag Alley. The cocktail hour will feature fare from Mineral Point restaurants.
The recently acquired Shake Rag Alley Quonset Hut, originally constructed by Bob Gant for his Ford dealership, has been many things over the years including a feed store, auto parts dealer and sheet metal shop.
Once complete, the building will provide additional classroom space, an indoor performance/rehearsal venue and a conference center. Shake Rag Alley is fundraising to renovate the space. John Lind, a Shake Rag Alley board member, has generously established a matching funds challenge to pay for the renovation of the Quonset Hut. For each dollar raised from individual contributors for Quonset hut renovations, The Lind Family will match dollar for dollar, up to a total of $20,000.
Tickets for the 6 p.m. July 20 event are $25 and can be purchased online at www.shakeragalley.com/alley-stage-shows or by calling the Shake Rag Alley office at (608) 987-3292.
