FREE Lecture, Conservation and Buddhism in Thailand, 6:30pm, Pippin Conference Room in Melvill, UW-Richland. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is especially renowned for its beautiful temples, its mouth-watering cuisine and its astonishing biotic diversity. Buddhism influences all aspects of Thai life and is practiced by 95% of the population.
In July 2011, Noah Rothering stayed at two Buddhist forest monasteries as a part of his graduate studies. He explored the relationship of Buddhism to the environment, and studied the indigenous ecological knowledge and spiritual connections to nature. (608) 647-6186
