Folklore Village, the nationally recognized folk arts and culture center in Dodgeville dedicated to enriching lives through time-honored traditions, seeks Teacher-Artists for the “Folklife…Your Life” school program. The program recently received grants in support of the spring and fall school seasons from BMO Harris Bank in Dodgeville and the Kohler Foundation.
Teacher-artists work on a contract basis and typically teach three to four 40-minute sessions per school field trip with grades K-5 with emphasis on 2nd-4th grade. Each day there is a half-hour lunch break. The workday itself is typically from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with some slight variation.
Currently in demand is a teacher to teach traditional games, maypole dancing and world folk dances to children of varying age ranges. Four hours of mandatory training will be provided and additional training is available if needed. Training will be paid.
The spring season on average includes three school programs a week starting in mid-April and lasting until mid-June.
