The seventh season includes Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” (June 20-29), Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple” (Aug. 15-24), Conor McPherson’s “The Weir” (Oct. 25-27), and the popular new musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (July 25-27). In addition, Alley Stage will produce staged readings of at least
three new works.
Local auditions will be held 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 (registration closes at 7 p.m.), and 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 (registration closes at 11 a.m.). Auditions will be held at Shake Rag Alley’s recently acquired Quonset Hut, located at the intersection of Hwy 23 (Commerce Street), Shake Rag Street and Doty Street in Mineral Point. Call-backs for all auditions will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
No roles have been pre-cast. Actors of all ages are encouraged to audition and will be asked to read from the scripts. Actors may review audition scenes at the Shake Rag Alley Coach House office starting Feb 18. No appointment is necessary. Those interested in “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” should prepare a 60-second song; an accompanist will be provided for auditions.
