Voice of the River Valley is a monthly independent magazine published and distributed in the Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin by Wording LLC © 2016 All Rights Reserved.

Voice is published by an all-volunteer staff. Thanks to those who advertise their businesses, organizations and events with Voice, our print issues are offered to readers free of charge. Circulation varies seasonally between 3,000 and 3,500 copies distributed to 164 distribution points in 21 communities across southwestern Wisconsin.

A Brief History

Voice of the River Valley was founded by Mary Friedel-Hunt and Bill Hunt in July 2006.

In August 2012, Wording LLC purchased the publication. Wording LLC is an editing and publishing company formed by Sara Lomasz Flesch.


If you are interested in receiving Voice each month by mail, subscriptions are available for an annual fee of $22. Email Sara at info@voiceoftherivervalley.com to subscribe.

Calendar. If you wish to list your event in our calendar, please email your event to info@voiceoftherivervalley.com or use this submission form. Event listings are free and limited to 125 words (online) and must be approved by the editor. Please include event title, venue, address, fees, names that are relevant, email/phone/website, town and any other relevant information.

Press releases. Your organization’s news is important to us and may be published according to our mission and the amount of space available. We give priority to non-profits, so if you wish to guarantee visibility to your event, it is best to run an advertisement. Please be certain that your press release includes all the information needed, that it is no longer than 225 words and that a contact phone number and email address is included in case we need to contact you regarding your submission. Send press releases to us at info@voiceoftherivervalley.com before the 15th of each month if you wish them to appear in the print version of Voice.

Story ideas, features, photography, art, and poems. We welcome submissions per our guidelines. At this time Voice does not pay for submissions, but offers contributors an opportunity to give voice to their ideas and to publish in a respected and popular publication.
