2012 Driftless Film Festival Winners Announced

The Driftless Film Festival announced the 2012 winners on its website Saturday:

  • Audience Award, Dramatic: “Little Red”
  • Audience Award, Documentary: “Bidder 70”
  • Audience Award, Short: “Grandma Fern”
  • Directing Award, Dramatic: Terry Green, “No God No Master”
  • Directing Award, Documentary: Brad Lichtenstein, “As Goes Janesville”
  • Special Jury Prize, Documentary: “Bending Toward the Light”
  • Special Jury Prize for Acting: Mark Metcalf, “Little Red”
  • Special Jury Prize for Acting: Jane Wilson, “Janeane From Des Moines”
  • Excellence in Cinematography Award: Carlo Besasie, “Little Red” (feature) and “The Wheel” (short)

The third year of the festival founded by producer and director Nicholas Langholff, actor Darren Burrows and State Theatres General Manager Jeremy Patnaude was held at historic theaters in Mineral Point, Spring Green, Richland Center and Platteville Nov. 1-4. An additional screening of the opening-night film “Beasts of the Southern Wild” will be shown at the Mineral Point Opera House at 3 p.m. Sunday; tickets are $6.
